This is one of my first glimpses of Frogger as he re-emerges after a winter frozen at the bottom of my pond. He is a green frog and possesses the remarkable talent of being able to survive long periods of being encased in blocks of ice with no harm to his little self. I know what you are thinking, I was dubious too, but I have the living proof out hunting my back yard after a New England winter in a 3 inch deep body of water. I had to drain my pond a couple of times during the early/late winter when it was only semi-frozen, and each time he emerged, looking annoyed, until it was clear that spring wasn't happening yet and he went back into frosty hibernation. One time I disturbed him by mistake when he was in some sort of intermediate jello-like state, but it doesn't seem to have harmed him. There is much scientific research on the topic of frozen frogs and how they do it on sciencenow
