The mother

This is the pond where I dug up several of my water lilies. It is in the woods of a trail where we mountain bike a lot. It looks like the lily pads in the pond are starting to die, end of the season, seems soon for that. The pond looks very different than it did a little over a month ago when I was digging the lily pads. It doesn't have much of a bank, so I had to wade in in the mud up to my thighs, it was pretty gooey and I almost lost my flip flops - Not the best foot ware for the job. The pond was FULL of frogs, they didn't mind me a bit, and I saw lots of tadpoles too. I thought about trying to catch some of the tadpoles and take them to my pond, but I was afraid that frogs from the New Hampshire woods would not be happy in a little cement pond in the middle of the city. I dug up the lilies with a fish knife, you have to get the root since the are tubers, but they are very easy to transplant. I brought them home in a bucket in the front seat of my car and stuck them in the rocks at the bottom of the pond and they were quite happy.
