New pool

I started work on the new pool yesterday. I cleaned out the remaining dirt and got five rocks cemented into place before I ran out of the hydrolic cement. I have determined that one of the worst causes of stress in my life is driving, which unfortunately I have to do every week day to get to work, so I promised myself that I wouldn't drive at all this weekend, which meant that once the cement was gone I had to stop work on the pond. Instead I decided to take a stab at the basement, which is my current nemesis. I discovered many odd and scary things, like suspicious saw dust, moldy cardboard and buckets filled with water tucked behind large objects. Buckets filled with water are bad for the obvious mosquito breeding reason, but they also remind me of a sad and cautionary tale of why one should never leave an uncovered bucket of water around:
The Chipmunk's Tale
My good friend left a bucket out by her garage and it filled with rain water. She came upon it one morning and, to her horror, found a baby chipmunk swimming for dear life, unable to get out of the bucket, and about to give up the fight. She quickly dumped the bucket to save the chipmunk, and she found ... two dead baby chipmunks at the bottom of the bucket!!
Moral: Don't leave buckets of water uncovered!
Of course, mass drowning in buckets of water is a common method of pest control in some areas which are prone to mouse infestations, but we prefer not to think about that.
