A former roommate of mine named the local flicker Rockwell. Maybe this is the same one, probably not because it has been a long time since the bird was named. The flickers are especially amusing in the spring when they are young and stupid and haven't figured out how to perch on the stand yet. Today is the winter solstice, and I spent it in bed sick (still) with a cold (which may be the flu, although not THE flu becuase I got a shot for that one but some secondary flu of lesser import) watching the wet snow fall outside my window. Thankfully my neighbors very well behaved children shovled out my car, although I still anticipate and unpleasant slog to work tomorrow.Sunday, December 21, 2008
Rockwell
